Professional Education and Publications

Dr Simpson is an experienced public speaker; over the past 35 years

she has presented at more than 30 international and 100 national

scientific meetings. She has lectured and given seminars/webinars to

medical and legal audiences on aspects of pain management and

medico-legal practice. She is available for educational events by

arrangement.

Dr Simpson was a member of the European Open Minds Pain group

that conducted research into the prevalence and impact of chronic

pain in Europe that resulted in important publications and changes in

practice e.g.

Dr Simpson is Co-Director of the Annual Leeds Pain Cadaver Workshop

that was established more than 10 years ago. This is hands-on

instruction for pain physicians in interventional pain management

techniques that attracts experienced doctors from the UK and

internationally. This course established Leeds as a national centre for

training in spinal and other pain interventions.

Dr Simpson has published several textbooks and many book chapters,

scientific papers, editorials and reviews (more than 130 publications).

In 2015 she and her co-authors won the British Medical Association

book of the year prize: ML Sharma, S Gupta, M Bennett and KH

Simpson Oxford Handbook of Complex Cancer Pain Management;

Oxford University Press (2014).
